In the lead-up to Earth Day, Riserva San Massimo celebrates the birth of a new woodland. Chefs and restaurateurs have participated in bringing to life the Bosco degli Chef, a dedicated area where every chef partner of Riserva San Massimo will have their own visible, tangible contribution.
“Involving chefs and restaurateurs means sharing something that matters deeply, a commitment we live every day: the responsibility we feel towards Riserva San Massimo. Protecting and caring for this environment is our primary goal, because nature here is the true protagonist, one we are passionately devoted to and continue to strengthen through projects like today. The reforestation of this land is not merely a symbolic gesture, but a genuine effort to do our part for future generations, for the protection of the environment and the preservation of this territory.” says Maria Antonello, Riserva San Massimo’s owner.
Over 6,000 new trees have been planted across the 600 hectares of Riserva San Massimo, a Site of Community Importance (SCI) within the Parco del Ticino. Alders, oaks and poplars are taking root in areas that had lain fallow, becoming new woodland surfaces destined to absorb CO₂, protect biodiversity and regenerate the soil.
The project is part of a conscious supply chain vision that has long defined Riserva San Massimo: from the cultivation of Carnaroli Classico rice using bio-integrated farming techniques, to the protection of natural habitats, to partnerships with Italy’s most thoughtful restaurant kitchens.
Throughout 2026 and in the years ahead, more professionals will join the initiative. The full list of chefs contributing to the Bosco degli Chef will be updated on the Riserva San Massimo website.
